You’re excited about creating your signature health or fitness program!
Whether you’re going to be hosting workshops, running through it with private clients, or launching an online program, this program’s gonna rock it!
Except, you haven’t made the content yet and you’re not sure where to start.
What should you include? What should you leave out?
Maybe you’ve had an AMAZING idea for an online program, but you’ve never been a client in a program like this yourself, so you’re not 100% sure on how to get started.
You’re not alone.
While I help my students to get more clients, I also LOVE helping them to create signature programs and get clear on the content, so that they’ve got a sizzler they can sell over and over again.
That’s why I’m sharing my simple method for creating your program content in this blog post.
Ever wanted to know the answer to a question and posted up on Facebook something like….
“Should I do this cert, or that cert?”
“Any good resources on intermittent fasting?”
“Can anyone recommend a great vegetarian protein powder?”
All you REALLY wanted, was a the need-to-know lowdown to help you decide what to do, right?
But instead…there's always a smarty-pants who hijacks the thread and turns your innocent #quickquestion into a full-on essay length analysis that rambles off topic.
What starts out as useful information quickly turns into overload with a million different opinions getting thrown at you.
(Plus there's those two guys fighting about whose approach is ‘the best', which is not what you asked, but thanks….)
And now you're totally confused, feeling like you probably shouldn't have posted in the first place.
(If that's never happened to you, I'm sure you've seen some poor soul who's been on the receiving end – you know what I'm talking about!)
Because I'm about to share my MOST important content creation secret with you and if you get this wrong, your online course or signature program's gonna feel like one of those totally confusing threads, and I don't want that. Your clients don't want that. Nobody wants that!
I call it the ‘NTK Method'. If you're about to create an online program, or thinking of creating an online program you'll want to know about it.
NKT stands for both, “Need To Know” and “Nice To Know”.
It’s a super-simple rule that will help you make sure you’re stuffing your programs full of good actionable steps and not fluff and noise that leave your clients confused.
Here’s how it works:
If it’s nice to know, take it out! Yep, I said it, take out all the learning and all the things that you’ve paid very good money to get schooled in, whether as a trainer, health coach or fitness pro, because your clients don’t want to be like you, they want a result.
That means the focus of your program has to be on taking action, not learning (unless it’s a professional education program, of course) and that means only the NEED TO KNOW stays in, the NICE TO KNOW gets cut.
What could be Need-To-Know? How to safely perform an exercise, perhaps. Or how to cook certain foods for maximum health benefits.
But more exercise variations, or that next-level theory isn't always helpful if it confuses your clients.
Keep it simple and they'll have success. That's it.
So there you have it, my simple NTK Method for ensuring that you’re creating a kick-ass course that clients love, without the fluff.
(And if you can’t bear to take out all your knowledge bombs, where else could you put them to avoid overwhelm?)
